Real estate photography in La Jolla

San Diego County

La Jolla sits on a point of coastline in the City of San Diego, with the Cove and the Village at its center, La Jolla Shores to the north and Bird Rock to the south. Behind them rises Mount Soledad, whose hillside homes face the ocean, the Shores or, on the southern slopes, Mission Bay and downtown.

Homes in La Jolla

Close to the water, Windansea and the Barber Tract have beach cottages and modern rebuilds, and homes and condos sit within walking distance of the Village and the Cove. La Jolla Shores has family homes on flat streets near the beach. Lots are small and the setting does much of the selling, so we photograph the view from inside, the route to the sand and the patios and decks.

Higher up, the Muirlands, the Country Club area and Mount Soledad have larger homes on steep lots, often with several levels, terraces and pools that face the view. North of the Shores, La Jolla Farms has homes on large lots above the bluffs near the university. Drone photos show the slope and the line of sight to the water, and twilight photos show the view after dark.

Planning a shoot in La Jolla

  1. Parking near the Village and the Cove

Streets around the Cove, the Village and La Jolla Shores are busy most of the year and packed in summer. Tell us about a garage or driveway we can use; otherwise we allow extra time to park and carry gear.

  2. Evening light on the coast

Much of La Jolla looks west over the water, and the best light for an ocean-view home often comes in the last hour before sunset. For twilight, we keep shooting until the sky turns deep blue and the rooms glow from inside.

  3. Hillside homes on Mount Soledad

On Mount Soledad and in the Muirlands, driveways are steep and homes step down the slope across several floors. Make sure we can reach every level, including terraces and the pool deck, and flag any area that is hard to reach on foot.

Questions about shoots in La Jolla

Can you photograph the view from a La Jolla home at night?

Yes. Twilight photos show the home lit from inside with the ocean or the city beyond. On a clear evening, the lights of Mission Bay and downtown can be in the frame, depending on which way the home faces.

Will buyers see the Cove or the Shores from the air?

Often, yes, when the home is a short walk from the water. One frame from above can take in the street, the beach and the Village around it. We check the airspace and the exact location before every flight.

How do you photograph a small Windansea or Barber Tract cottage?

With careful framing that shows the space honestly. The yard, the patio and the walk to the water often matter as much as the rooms, and we also photograph character details such as wood ceilings and original windows.
