Real estate photography in Corona del Mar

Orange County

Corona del Mar is a coastal village within Newport Beach, between the harbor entrance and Crystal Cove. Its homes run from the narrow lots of the Flower Streets near the coast highway to the bluff above Big Corona and China Cove on Ocean Boulevard, and up to the hillside neighborhoods of Spyglass Hill and Harbor View Hills.

Homes in Corona del Mar

The Flower Streets, named for flowers such as Poppy, Marguerite and Larkspur, have small lots with alleys. Many older cottages there have given way to new two-story homes, some with a small third level and many with roof decks. For these, the roof deck and the walk to the beach and the village shops matter, so we photograph the deck and its view, and a drone photo shows how far it is to Big Corona and Little Corona.

On Ocean Boulevard and above China Cove, homes sit on the bluff with views of the harbor entrance, the Balboa Peninsula and, on clear days, Catalina. On the inland side of the coast highway, Spyglass Hill, Harbor View Hills and Corona Highlands have homes looking out over the ocean and the city. On the ocean side, Shore Cliffs and Cameo Shores have public streets and locked beach gates for residents. The view drives most of these listings, so we plan the shoot around the light on the water.

Planning a shoot in Corona del Mar

  1. Checking airspace before the drone flies

Most of Corona del Mar, from Irvine Terrace and the village up to Spyglass Hill, sits inside the controlled airspace of John Wayne Airport, a few miles to the north. The FAA limits how high a drone can fly there, so we check each address against the FAA airspace map and get authorization before the shoot day. The southern edge, from Little Corona and Shore Cliffs to Cameo Shores and Cameo Highlands, sits just outside it.

  2. Alleys and parking in the Flower Streets

Flower Street homes are close together, with garages on the alley and little street parking, especially near the beaches in summer. Move cars out of the alley and away from the front, and let us know where we can park while we work.

  3. Twilight on Ocean Boulevard

Homes on Ocean Boulevard and Spyglass Hill look out over the harbor entrance and the ocean, so twilight can show the jetty, the harbor lights and the last of the sunset. It is worth adding for any home where the evening view is part of the sale.

Questions about shoots in Corona del Mar

Does Corona del Mar count as Orange County for pricing?

Yes. It is part of Newport Beach, so book it under the Orange County option in the booking portal, where Orange County pricing is set.

Should the roof deck be photographed?

Yes. For most Flower Streets homes, the roof deck is one of the main rooms. We photograph it in daylight and, if you add twilight, again after sunset with its lights on, and a drone photo from above shows its view toward the ocean.

Can you photograph the private beaches at Shore Cliffs or Cameo Shores?

Yes, if you or the owner arrange access through the residents’ beach gate before the shoot. The streets in both are public, but the beach paths are locked, and the association may have rules about drones and photos of common areas, so check with them first.
